gait analysis

Gait analysis, is known as a walking or motion analysis, it is an evaluation of the way an individual stands and walks. It is used to find out if you're moving abnormally and helps determine the cause of any existing pain or overuse injury. Gait analysis, as a noninvasive method of detection, and is valuable in identifying certain medical conditions, determining whether further testing is required, and illuminating possible treatment options. It is also critical in determining what type of orthotic device to make and what modifications need to be made to a patients orthotics in order to correct these gait abnormalities. This analysis also helps determine what type of footwear would best suit the patient.

Commonly known as “Heel Pain”, this condition is more common than people think, and the risks of going untreated can also be higher then most people think. Plantar Fasciitis is the inflammation of the Plantar fascia, a band of tissues that make up the arch of the foot. This can occur from trauma, overuse, abnormal biomechanics during gait, unsupportive footwear, and abnormal foot structure. Seeing a Pedorthist like myself will allow us to determine the cause of the injury and we work along side you by making custom orthotics to correct the biomechanics and offload the strain to the fascia. In addition, I will guide you on how to appropriately stretch and massage the fascia so that we can work to fully recover the tendon. Email and book a appointment at no charge to get assessed. Don’t prolong your recovery any longer and let me help you get your MOVEMENT back.

what are

VERICOSE VEINS & SPIDER VEINS

The body is composed of the venous and arterial system. Unlike arteries, veins do not have their own muscle to help pump blood back to the heart, they rely on surrounding muscles to do this. The calf is known as the “second heart”. When you activate the calf, you help pump the blood back up to your heart. Veins also have built in valves that open and close when blood is being pumped to the heart. Often when the veinous system is being overwhelmed the values start to break down and indicators such as varicose veins and spider veins appear. Genetics have a large role to play in your chances in getting varicose veins and spider veins, but lifestyle also plays an important role. Individuals with sedentary job or a role that requires them to stand in one location for long periods are at risk in stressing the veinous system. Compression socks are an important tool in reducing the risk of developing spider veins, varicose veins and swelling, as well as CVI, Chronic Vein Insufficiency.
